Need Headache Help?

Headaches and migraines are more than painful and inconvenient; they can hamper your productivity and dampen your mood. They literally can stop you in your tracks!  Knowing how to tell the difference between headaches and migraines can help you seek the correct treatment and get relief from your symptoms as quickly as possible.

Head pain, pressure, and throbbing are all common symptoms of headaches, although the location of these symptoms varies depending on the type of headache you have. Most people have had a headache at least once in their life. Often, they can be treated with over the counter medications with good relief, or addressing the cause.

IV Hydration Therapy for Migraines and Headaches

Our IV infusions have the vitamins, electrolytes, antioxidants, and hydrating fluids that your body needs to counteract your symptoms. IV therapy thoroughly hydrates you, restores your levels of electrolytes and vitamins when over the counter medications just aren’t enough.

In addition to these ingredients, we offer additional anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea medication for further relief from your symptoms if you are suffering from a migraine, a more debilitating type of headache.

Headaches

Head pain, pressure, and throbbing are all common symptoms of headaches, although the location of these symptoms varies depending on the type of headache you have. Most people have had a headache at least once in their life.

There are three types of primary headaches, where an illness or other external factor is not the cause of symptoms.

  • Tension headaches: Often described as feeling like a tight band surrounding your head, tension headaches are caused by stress and – you guessed it – tension. Tension headaches can also manifest at the back of your head, in your neck, or even in your shoulders. If you think you might have a tension headache, take a break from what you are doing and try to relax to help ease your tightened muscles.

  • Sinus headaches: Sometimes called ‘allergy headaches’, this type manifests in your sinuses. You may experience pain or pressure behind your eyes, above your eyebrows, at the center of your forehead, or below your eyes. You can often, but not always, identify a sinus headache if these areas are tender when gently pressed. A warm compress can help ease sinus headaches, especially those that come with sinus infections.

  • Cluster headaches: A type of headache that generally manifests in a localized area, such as behind one eye or in a specific part of your head. Cluster headaches often happen in a series, one subsiding only to be replaced by another over a duration of minutes or hours. Some people may experience cluster headaches around the same time every day for a period of month. It is not yet certain what causes cluster headaches.

There are many types of secondary headaches, where an external factor or illness is casing symptoms. These types of headaches are linked to the cause. Below, we’ve listed several of the most common types, but this is not a comprehensive list:

  • Caffeine headaches: As the name suggests, caffeine headaches are directly related to your consumption of caffeine. You can get a caffeine headache either from ingesting too much caffeine or by suddenly stopping regular caffeine consumption. If you’re getting headaches from drinking too much caffeine, consider cutting back how many cups you drink per day. If your headaches stem from going cold turkey on caffeine, consider amending your approach to gradually remove caffeine from your routine.

  • Hypertension headaches: These headaches are caused by hypertension (high blood pressure), where the physical pressure in your veins contributes to your symptoms.

  • Dehydration headaches: This type of headache is caused when you have not ingested enough fluid. Because they do not have enough fluid to function optimally, your cells and veins shrink and pull away from the interior of your skull and can cause a dull or aching pain.

  • Hormone headaches: Some people may experience headaches that are related to changing hormones, especially during menopause, andropause, or pregnancy.

There are many more types of headaches, but these are the most commonly experienced types. Some people may experience episodic headaches, meaning that they happen every once in a while. Others may experience chronic headaches, which happen on a regular basis over an extended period of time.  If you have recurring headaches, our Certified Practitioners can guide you through care, prevention and treatment options.

Migraines

Migraines are a type of headache. Pain, pressure, and throbbing are some of the symptoms that overlap with headaches. Migraines can be thought of as a severe form of headache. This type of headache may last for hours, a couple of days, and potentially weeks for some people. Severe migraines can impact your work, school, and social life by making it challenging – if not impossible – to meet the demands of your schedule.

Migraines are characterized by several symptoms that make them distinct from other types of headaches:

  • Severe pain on one side of your head

  • Sensitivity to light

  • Sensitivity to sound

  • Nausea

  • Vision changes (such as lights or bright spots)

For those that suffer from migraines, learning how to avoid triggers and prevent episodes is key!  Keeping a log and discovering triggers are the first step to controlling them! But sometimes, we know, despite your best efforts, a migraine can occur anyway!  Then what?

The pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound can disable you completely, preventing you from participating in your daily life for days or even weeks at a time. Or, expensive, long ER trips!

Thankfully, there is another option that have provided the answer that so many headache migraine sufferers have been desperately searching for fast, effective relief with IV hydration therapy.

What is IV Hydration Therapy for Migraines and Headaches?

While it is important to properly assess a headache before any treatment to determine if outpatient care is right for you, we may refer you to emergency care under certain conditions.

However, if your symptoms are not new (for you) we can help!

IV hydration therapy, also called migraine IV treatments or migraine IV cocktails, utilizes a combination of vitamins, electrolytes, antioxidants, hydrating fluids, and medication.

Delivered intravenously (via an IV drip), the migraine cocktail can be a highly effective option for counteracting migraine symptoms.  All monitored and certified by our licensed professionals. Either in the comfort of your home or in our quiet calm office… without waiting HOURS!

As your body is rehydrated and rebalanced, you can finally find relief. That is our goal!

Additionally, our migraine IV treatments also feature medications and can be customized to fight nausea and inflammation, so you can be back to feeling like yourself in no time.

IV treatments for migraines are a fast, convenient and cost effective treatment option, and typically take one hour or less to complete! The specific “cocktail” for migraine relief may be uniquely formulated to address your specific triggers and needs. All you’ll need to do is sit back, relax, and await the fast-acting relief the IV therapy can provide!

Not all headaches are migraines, and we have treatment options for other common headaches AND Migraines!!

We’d be glad to help get you back to your life!

To Your Health and Wellness Lifestyle Intervention Programs (LIPs)

To Your Health and Wellness Lifestyle Intervention Programs (LIPs)

Let’s face it, knowing what to eat and learning HOW to eat well is most people’s biggest challenge when it comes to changing our health and bodies.  It does not matter if your goal is to lose weight, add muscle or manage a health condition.  Eating is something we ALL enjoy, but eating healthy, for some, is a BIG challenge!

At To Your Health and Wellness, we have individual programs, where we treat food as medicine and get you on the path to wellness with a combination of nutritional guidance, lifestyle/habit coaching and personalized medicine.

Did you know that most people eat the same foods over and over again?  Think about what you eat for breakfast every day.  Most likely, you eat the same two, three or four foods every day, over and over again.  We are creatures of habit!  Unfortunately, in our society, our habits may not be healthy ones.

So, when is it time for a change?  Well, it depends.  For some, it is an event coming up and the desire to “look good”.  For others, it is the realization that we are at “the age” where our “seemingly healthy” friends are dying of preventable diseases like heart attacks or strokes. It may be a health care provider prescribing multiple medications for all your health problems, many to counteract a side effect for the one before.   For others, it may be a new baby, and the desire to lead a healthy, long, active life raising that child.  We all have reasons to desire change.  But to do this you have to learn new habits, which can be difficult!  There is so much out there in terms of “do this, and do that”.  Fad diets, miracle supplements, shakes and programs to “get rid of fat fast”.  It is hard to weed through all the information, know what is legit, healthy, sustainable, and be able to make the CHANGE in your lifestyle to avoid bouncing back to bad habits.

That’s where we come in!  Our Lifestyle Intervention Programs (LIPs) are programs that are designed by a multidisciplinary group of professionals to help make healthier habit and choices, and teach you how to maintain them as a lifestyle!

How it works

Our Certified Nurse Practitioner will sit with you and come up with an action plan.  After a full review of your health history, your current lifestyle, YOUR GOALS and desire to change.  We will review (or obtain for a very low cost) laboratory data and other measurable metrics, such as vital signs, weight and body measurements.  We will discuss your current activity level and your abilities.   We take the time with your current provider, likely, just doesn’t have time for! We obtain these metrics as you’ll hear us often talk about and celebrate with you NON-SCALE wins! Weight is only a part of the big picture, but not our focus here!

We make it easy and convenient

Most nutritional or “diet” programs start off with a stack of flyers, handout and blank spreadsheets to make a food diary.  Food journaling can be a daunting task that takes a lot of time.  It becomes like a giant math problem to find foods that will fit your nutritional needs, that won’t put you over your caloric budget for the day.  Our nutrition program provides recommended meal plans, specifically chosen for you, and grocery lists that are designed by licensed dieticians and doctors.  All of our plans are balanced to meet your personal caloric goals and special needs, from macros to allergies.  Whether you prefer to eat organic, have food allergies, want/need a low sodium plan or are aiming to increase your performance in the gym or as an athlete, we have a program for you!

Since mobile technology has made our lives so much more convenient, people desire immediate access to things anytime, anywhere.  Our LIPs nutritional program sends a personalized meal plan and grocery list right to your phone and email.  This way, you ALWAYS have your “list” ready and with you!  You will know what exactly you should be eating to meet your personal health and fitness, if indicated goals.  You can also access your information at home via any internet service.
